This is Berk...

Just recently I saw How to train your dragon 2, And I liked it a lot. I would really love to fly a dragon now, but I guess I'll have to be happy with gliders. I can always dream anyway. As well as design my own dragon. So this is my yet-unnamed dragon. I would call it a Firebird as the species name, but that would not be the name of my individual dragon. I'm not sure about color either, but I got the basic look and build of the dragon as well as its characteristics and all that. He would weigh 1.5 tons, is capable of 603mph (is that fast enough for you? gosh), and can breath oil-based fire in almost any form, jellied, bursts, streams, beams, etc.

He would be in the strike class (like Toothless) and would have similar flight characteristics, big enough for high flight and comfortable travel but still small and nimble to swing all kinds of aerobatics.
Somewhat similar to Toothless, but different enough to be unique.

I also designed a custom saddle which is equipped with a fold-down chair back for comfort during long flights.
overall view
My hypothetical customized saddle with a fold-down chair back, control yoke/handle, footholders/pedals, saddlebags,
and a built-in scabbard to store a sword.

And for those who haven't heard, How to train your dragon 3 is coming in 2018.  So a lot of movies to look forward to. (Rogue 1, SW8, Han Solo Origin story and HTTYD3 are on my list).

  1. Well, if he's a firebird, duh obviously he'd be RED.
    Yeah, orange would work too.
Even yellow if you want to be really different.

    Name him Dwayne.

  3. Wow, this is a very involved and intricate series of pictures. You might call your firebird Ember. Good post. I really like your dragon's head design.

    1. Thanks, I the name idea is cool, I might use it. Yeah, I like how the head has kind of a "beak" to it, and how there is some intelligence there, unlike most other dragons in the movie (except for toothless) which are usually more "simple" and act more like actual dragons would, versus toothless with his personality and all that.

  4. Love this! I watched HTTYD 2 also and really liked it. I would like to have my own personal dragon as well, now that you mention it...

    1. We'd all like Toothless of course, but there is only one, so next best thing is design your own dragon. Ha ha.

  5. Awesome drawing--I love your dragon! If I were you, I would call him O'Dell . . . you know, after the kid in October Sky. (Which is a great movie, btw. Have you ever seen it?)

    1. Eh, never heard of it. So nope. Can't say I've seen it. Title sounds nice though.

    2. You'd probably like it, come to think of it. It's a true story about some high-school-age boys in Virginia in the 1960s who decide to build a homemade rocket that will actually fly. Really well-done film.

    3. Hmm.. interesting, sounds like one my never-off-the-drawing-board-type ideas. I'll look it up sometime.

    4. I came up with a name. I think I'll call him Ersh. I got the idea from the name of a Russian submarine. Random, but I thought it sounded cool and unique.

Keep it clean; don't be mean.
